AYA OGAWA – English Translation

Aya Ogawa was born in Tokyo and is a Brooklyn-based writer, director, translator and performer for the theatre.

Her work has been seen in prominent venues in Japan, Thailand, and the U.S.  Recent productions include her translation of Toshiki Okada’s Enjoy (produced by The Play Company) and Five Days in March (produced by Witness Relocation), her original play oph3lia at HERE Arts Center, and Journey to the Ocean (produced by The Foundry Theatre), all in NYC.

She was twice selected to participate in the International Theatre Institute’s international collaboration projects as part of the artist team representing the U.S. She is founder and Artistic Director of her company knife inc. (www.knifeinc.org) She is a Usual Suspect at New York Theater Workshop and recipient of New Dramatists’ Van Lier Fellowship.
